QR code to your homepage

Send customers to your homepage

Use QuiQR Codes to create a QR code that opens your store homepage when someone scans it. This is useful for packaging inserts, posters, window stickers, and printed marketing where you want customers to land on your main storefront.

This guide follows the app’s creation flow in Shopify: open QuiQR Codes, go to the Dashboard, select Create QR Code, complete the form, then select Save.

Before you start

Make sure your Shopify Online Store sales channel is set up and your homepage is live. The QR code will send customers to your storefront homepage, not to a specific product or collection.

Create a homepage QR code

In Shopify admin, open Apps and select QuiQR Codes.

You’ll arrive on the Dashboard, where you may also see stats such as Total QR Codes, Active Codes, Archived Codes, and Total Scans.

Select Create QR Code in the top-right of the Dashboard.

You can also use the shortcut in the Setup Guide card if it is visible.

On the Create QR Code screen, enter a clear label in Name *, such as Homepage flyer QR or Storefront window QR.

If needed, add extra context in Description (Optional) so you can recognise the code later in Manage QR Codes.

Open the Action * dropdown and select Online Store (Homepage).

This sets the QR code destination to your website homepage.

Check the Preview panel on the right to confirm the QR code is ready.

If you want, you can also adjust appearance settings such as Background color and Foreground color before saving.

Select Save in the top bar to keep the QR code.

If you do not want to keep your changes, select Discard.

Use a descriptive name based on where the code will appear, such as Homepage QR - Packaging Insert or Homepage QR - Store Counter. This makes it easier to find the code later under Manage QR Codes.

What happens after saving

Once saved, the QR code is stored in Manage QR Codes. You can return to it later to manage the code and use it in your campaign materials.

The app’s Dashboard can also help you monitor overall usage with tiles such as Total QR Codes and Total Scans.

Best practices before printing

  • Test the QR code first: scan it with your phone before printing in bulk to confirm it opens your homepage.

  • Use strong contrast: if you customise Background color and Foreground color, keep the contrast high so the code remains easy to scan.

  • Use the right destination: choose Online Store (Homepage) when you want one general entry point to your site. If you want to send shoppers to a specific page instead, use a more targeted action.

If your online store is password-protected, customers who scan the QR code may see the storefront password page instead of your homepage.

When to use this action

  • General brand promotion

  • Retail signage

  • Packaging inserts

  • Event handouts

  • Printed materials where you want customers to start at your main storefront
